Hyperbilirubinaemia
Does anyone have any experience with Hyperbilirubinaemia in newborns? The Little Man is jaundiced. His levels are 300 mumol/L which is concern enough to require him to go to the special care nursury, likely for phototherapy and bilirubin monitoring. I'm terrified, but am assured it's very common and that he'll be fine.

I was going to post a birth announcement/story, but I haven't had time yet, sorry about that. In short, he was born Sunday, July 9th at 7:55pm after just 55 minutes of labour. He was 8 lbs, 21 inches and was born at 37w3d. I wanted to post this right away because I'd love to hear from anyone who has any experience with this. Please comment.

I had it, but it was in 1975. My mother was utterly freaked out, but after phototherapy I was fine. I read when my daughter was a baby that 60% of full-term newborns get some level of jaundice, and the number is higher the earlier the baby is. I wish I had more to add to that, but it IS very common.

Congratulations on your son, and hope to hear that he's all better soon.

My son was jaundiced and re-admitted to the hospital. The hardest part was sitting next to the bassinet with the light and not being able to pick him up when he fussed. Though they did let me nurse often.

I hope you are home now!
