I was talking to my mum today and we were complaining (she has 4 kids) about how pregnancy books & websites NEVER seem to take into account older kids, or if they do, they assume all kids young enough not to be in school still take naps.
You know 'nap when the baby naps', 'rest up in the last few weeks while you can', that kinda thing. My 3 year old hasn't had daytime naps in at least a year! No such thing as naps for me!
Ah well, I'm 39 weeks and 4 days pregnant in the heat and just venting, don't mind me.

AGREED! i think it's better when family says - oh when "your toddler" naps at least you get a break? --- really because he doesn't nap anymore (he stopped around three months ago and he turned three in february).

another thing he is infamous for is starting the day around six and loud.

at least (if the toddler is quiet enough) the newborn will nap!
good luck!

I fully agree, and for me I found it hard to find any information on how and OLDER sibling may react to a new baby.
by older, I mean over 5 (my dd was 8 at the time) because they DO have an adjustment period, it just comes out in diffrent ways.

I now am pg again but my second daughter will be almost 3, and like you have given up naps for an earlier bedtime.

I think that was part of the reason I couldn't bear the idea of having another baby when my daughter was young. She gave up naps at 15 months. I remember how much I needed to sleep after she was born and just said, "Nuh uh. Not doing it". Now she's 11, and can take care of herself while I sleep. :)
